Clash Royale Word Championship — Commercial17-09

BRIDGING THE WORLDS OF GAMES AND PLAYERS WITH HOLOGRAM.

Info

In 2017, I help branded the E-sports tournament for one of Supercell’s most well-known mobile game: Clash Royale. I designed the hologram look of the in-game characters and projected them into the real world. By bridging both the game world and the player’s world together, we were able to show the excitement of the event and create fun moments with the iconic characters from the game. I was in charge of art direction, designing frames, R&D the look and also animate and compositing for some of the shots.

turning game characters into real-life holograms.

A huge part of the challenge is to portrait our in-game characters in real-life in the holographic look. Creating a world where the players around the world is marching to London to attend the world finals with their minions.

↓ EARLY ROUGH CUT

Here's a rough cut we did in the earlier stage that helped laying out the overall mood.

↓ CG TESTS

Here are a few of earlier tests to try out ideas for the holographic look. The biggest challenge is trying to do hologram under daylight environments.
