We bring Rick Riordan’s beloved series to life with a main-on-end title sequence that transforms American landscapes into a mythological journey, culminating at Olympus in New York City. Blending adventure and mythology, the sequence immerses viewers in Percy Jackson’s world with Disney’s signature magic.
For Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we designed a title sequence that reimagines Greek mythology through American landmarks, culminating at Olympus in New York City. Inspired by the Empire State Building’s Art Deco style, the sequence unfolds like a grand mural—turning Percy’s journey into a timeless visual story filled with hidden details. Each transition balances mythological grandeur with the energy of a modern road trip, making the sequence both epic and personal.

insights.
The sequence feels like a giant, moving mural—Percy’s wild road trip through mythology and the twists and turns of Percy’s epic journey. We sketched it out in Illustrator with those bold Art Deco vibes, then cranked up the magic in After Effects with texture, lighting, and some slick VFX to make it pop.
A huge challenge I face is how to make flat 2D illustrations into stylized murals. I helped developed a pipeline that involves painting on top of vector art, post texturing and normal map lighting techniques to help bring the mural to life.
