Season 2 carries Percy into the Sea of Monsters—a world defined by scale, danger, and constant movement. The end title sequence was conceived as a living mural, transforming the credits into a continuous painted passage that unfolds across uncertain waters.
Evolving from the Art Deco foundation of Season 1, the visual language shifts toward nautical cartography and myth. Creatures, coastlines, and storms emerge as layered tableaux, blending real-world maps with legend. Rather than arriving at a destination, the sequence drifts forward—charting the Sea of Monsters as something vast, ancient, and alive.

insights.
The sequence feels like a giant, moving mural—Percy’s wild road trip through mythology and the twists and turns of Percy’s epic journey. We sketched it out in Illustrator with those bold Art Deco vibes, then cranked up the magic in After Effects with texture, lighting, and some slick VFX to make it pop.
A huge challenge I face is how to make flat 2D illustrations into stylized murals. I helped developed a pipeline that involves painting on top of vector art, post texturing and normal map lighting techniques to help bring the mural to life.
