A new original series based on the writings of Bruce Lee. It was a privilege creating this graphic tease for the new drama. We crafted a first peek into the show, hiding clues to the era, the story and what is happening around the Chinatown our new protagonist is set in. Warrior premieres in 2019 on Cinemax!

↓ STUDYING THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE ERA.

The idea of this teaser is to use the newspaper as a element to showcase the historical background of the show. It was set during the Tong Wars in late 1870s San Francisco, California. If view watches closely. We actually hinted a lot of story points in the news paper article through out the piece.
These were some of the references we came across during our research. We were aiming at finding the right visual language that hinted at the era, looking at specifically the layout, typography, font...etc.

↓ POWERFUL, BOLD

Some visual references we were looking at when we try to develop a look we could own. We were particularly interested in how some of the bold croppings of the letters and how they leaves a powerful and strong impression to the eyes.
